Dr. Nilay Hande is a distinguished orthopedic surgeon and fitness enthusiast based in Nagpur, Central India. With a deep passion for yoga and a dedication to advancing orthopedic care, Dr. Hande’s academic journey began at Shree Ram School in Ramtek, leading him to earn his MBBS and MS Orthopedics degrees from MGIMS, Sewagram Medical College, Wardha, following his success in the Sewagram P.M.T. exam in 1991.

Dr. Hande specializes in trauma, spine, and joint replacement surgeries. His commitment to continuous learning and adoption of new techniques significantly benefits his patients and the broader community. He is renowned for his pioneering work with the MIROS (Minimal Invasive Reduction & Osteosynthesis System), being the only practitioner of this technique in Central India. Dr. Hande actively promotes MIROS through Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, enhancing the knowledge and skills of orthopedic professionals in Vidarbha.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Hande is an international faculty member who has shared innovative research globally. He has distinguished himself with a quiz win in knee joint replacement surgery at AIIMS, Delhi, and has contributed as a faculty member at VOS, discussing complex cases such as knee joint replacements in patients with severe Rheumatoid arthritis.

His leadership roles include serving as President of the Ramtek branch of IMA and holding memberships in IMA, VOS (Executive Member), AMF (Executive Member), and IAOS. Dr. Hande currently directs and consults in the Department of Orthopedics and Joint Replacement Surgery at VIMS Hospital, Nagpur. He also owns and directs Ojas Hospital and runs Hande Hospital, a charitable healthcare facility in Ramtek.

A decade ago, Dr. Hande developed a keen interest in pain management due to the limitations of traditional surgical approaches, which were often unsuitable for many patients due to financial or morbidity constraints. He simultaneously became intrigued by regenerative medicine, which offers potential rejuvenation and tissue regeneration, providing patients with relief from their ailments. Notably, in 2012, he performed his first BMAC (Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate) for avascular necrosis (AVN) at Hande Hospital in Ramtek—a pioneering procedure in a rural area and a testament to his passion for integrating innovative solutions into his practice.
